BİLKONT FOREIGN TRADE AND TEXTILE INDUSTRIES INC. ( A BRIEF HISTORY)

Bilkont Foreign Trade and Textile Industries Inc, a ŞAHİNLER HOLDING company, was founded in 1994 with integrated facilities including yarn, circular knit, knitted fabric dyeing and finishing and yarn dyeing plants. The facilities are situated on an outdoor area of 450,000 m² with a total indoor area of 120,000 m².

One of the most select companies of the sector, Bilkont has 672 employees who work in shifts to ensure that the plants are in operation 24 hours a day. With policies that support efforts for improvement and change in the face of global market conditions, Bilkont makes customer satisfaction permanent by delivering the product demanded by the customer with the best price, and quality, and always on time.

Bilkont Çorlu Plant consists of facilities with a capacity of 20 tons/day open-end yarn, 9 tons/day ring-melange yarn and 33 tons/day knitted fabric production, as well as 25 tons/day fabric dyeing and finishing and 4.5 tons/day yarn dyeing capacities.

At the yarn factories, open-end and ring-melange yarn is produced using cotton, organic cotton, polyester, acrylic, viscose, wool, polypropylene, bamboo, mineral and flax fibre. The yarn factories are able to produce ring melange with any desired blend or with any single fibre 100% between 10/1 - 50/1 Ne, and open-end yarn between 6/1 – 33/1 Ne.

Knitted fabrics such as cotton, acrylic, viscose, lycra, polyester and their blends are dyed and finished at the fabric dyeing facilities, while blended yarns such as cotton, cotton-polyester, cotton-viscose, cotton-acrylic etc are dyed at the yarn dyeing factory.

The chemical raw materials and substances used in production and finishing processes are not harmful to human health and the environment; hence, the company holds the "Öko-tex 100" Standard certificate, which is granted to organizations that are able to produce fully healthy products. The yarn types of cotton, viscose, cotton/viscose, viscose/polyester, cotton/polyester, cotton/acrylic are produced under certificate no. 10.HTR.74187, while the fabric types of cotton, viscose, cotton/viscose, viscose/polyester, cotton/polyester, cotton/acrylic, cotton/spandex are produced under certificate no 10.HTR.74188. Both the yarns and the fabrics can be produced either raw or dyed.

As of 2007, the conditions required for 100% organic cotton open-end and ring-melange yarn production, knitted fabric production, knitted fabric dyeing and yarn dyeing processes have been achieved, and the conformity of the conditions has been certified by Control Union Certifications with a Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) certificate. Bilkont Inc is capable of two production formats, “organic” and “made with organic”, under the C 807477 GOTS certificate.

In addition, with its C 807477 OE certificate, the company is eligible for production according to Organic Exchange 100 and Organic Exchange Blended Standard.
